Achieving for Children (AfC) have recently retendered their short break contracts however for a number of reasons we have decided not to re-apply for any of these.
Through this funding stream we have, for a number of years had a sum of money that funded our School Holiday activities (summer, Easter and half terms), our Friday youth Club (Whitton All Stars) and our Sunday youth club (OSO Activity Station). We have enjoyed delivering these activities but we see this change as an opportunity to pause and assess what we are offering and ensure it is fulfilling a need.
As a result of this decision we are sad to say that there will be no Summer Fun this year, and Whitton All Stars and the Sunday youth club will not restart after the summer holidays.
Don’t worry though this is not the end of our children and young people’s services!
We see it as an exciting chance to come up with some fresh ideas for the autumn and some new services that will offer our usual safe, fun and supportive activities. We will be taking this opportunity to talk to parents and young people to see what you want so please start thinking and we’ll be in touch soon.
As well as our new services there will of course be new services starting soon that AFC will contract. Currently we don’t know who or what these will be but as soon as we know we will let you know so you can make contact with the providers. AFC plan to make services available to more families so we are hopeful that these new school holiday activities, youth clubs and weekend activities will be open to a wide range of children and young people.
Please make sure you keep in touch; we will most definitely be back after summer with some new activities so we look forward to seeing you soon. If you have any questions or comments please direct them to me as staff in our activities will not know the full picture. Please do feel free to contact me in the office on 020 8744 1923 or on firstname.lastname@example.org
